Public policies affect the social, political, and economic conditions people experience every day. Yet many policy decisions happen without enough input from citizens, civil society groups, or other important voices. Helping individuals and organizations build the skills to influence policy is key to making governance more inclusive, accountable, and based on solid evidence.
Advocacy and policy work give civil society members, researchers, and community leaders the tools to work with policymakers, share evidence-based ideas, and rally public support for change. By speaking up, these groups can bring attention to community needs, support marginalized voices, and push for policies that tackle important social and development issues.
This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills they need to understand policy processes, design advocacy strategies, communicate evidence effectively, and engage decision-makers in constructive dialogue.
Somali Public Agenda (SPA) is a non-profit, non-partisan, and independent public policy and administration research and action organization based in Mogadishu. It aims to advance understanding and improvement of public policy and services in Somalia through evidence-based research and analysis, dialogue, policy and service design, and training.
