On Monday, December 1, 2025, Somali Public Agenda (SPA) Executive Director Mahad Wasuge and Independence House (IH) Executive Director Hassan Mohamud signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mogadishu.
Independence House is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization based in Mogadishu. Its core mandate is the protection and promotion of civil and political rights, freedom of expression, and the advancement of democracy in Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
Through this MoU, SPA and IH will collaborate on research, capacity building, policy engagement, and advocacy. Their joint efforts will focus on addressing governance challenges, while also promoting the rule of law and safeguarding civil and political rights in Somalia.
